We have recently successfully fielded our Emergency Financial Assistance Program (EFAP). EFAP exists to help individuals or families with unmet emergency financial needs. This need can be related to mortgage/rental payments, groceries, or utilities. Grants are disbursements of funds that do not have to be repaid and are funded by donations from community members, just like you.

Program Criteria

In order to qualify for the EFAP, an individual or family must have the following:

  • A demonstrable financial need that is currently unmet (Verifiable by bill/utility statements)
  • A completed application (In its entirety) with Lelia Cottner Ministries on file. (Incomplete applications will not be considered)
  • Not have previously received an EFAP grant within the previous 90 days.

Once the application process is complete, an LC ministry official will review the application and render an approval/disapproval decision. Disapprovals do not necessarily indicate a client’s ineligibility, and approvals are subject to the availability of funds for the grant program.

Funds Disbursement

Once an application is approved and a case file is assigned. An organization representative will coordinate with the client to pay the approved bill directly to the debtor.

Following disbursement, a client’s case file will remain open for follow-ups for 90 days to check in on the client’s progress toward financial sufficiency. Once a case file is closed, the client will need to reapply for assistance. Lelia Cottner Ministries reserves the right to amend or cancel this program’s stipulations, criteria, and process at any time without advance notice.
